Up in the northeastern reaches of Tuscany bordering Umbria and near several nature reserves in mountains reaching heights of 1500 meters is the newly opened agritourism bed and breakfast, Borgo Tozzetto. Owning a bed and breakfast is nothing new to Luciano Fabrizi, whose family owns the very popular La Malvarina in Assisi. Luciano fell in love with this lesser-known, virgin countryside and has put the business in the capable hands of a young local couple, Daniela and Marco. Tozzetto is located in a group of private homes, encompassing two restored stone houses plus a mini apartment in the transformed stalls (Gnacco). The Contadina is a large apartment on two floors with three bedrooms and kitchen/living room in the same building as the stone-walled taverna dining room where Daniela serves local specialties. Just across from this is a small house with two identical one-bedroom apartments on each floor, enjoying sweeping views over the bucolic hillsides. All rooms are immaculate and neat, with simple reproduction country furniture and fresh paint in soft hues set off by stencil motifs. There is a lawn area in front with swimming pool and playground for children. The impressive city of Arezzo with its beautiful historical center and antique market is 45 kilometers away. Directions: Exit at Arezzo from the A1 autostrada and drive towards Sansepolcro, Anghiari, and Caprese Michelangelo (Michelangelo’s birthplace and museum). In town there are signs for Tozzetto—2 km.
