Antica Fattoria del Colle
Deruta, Umbria |
Description:
The Antica Fattoria came highly recommended by several readers who stayed
there in the first year it opened. It is indeed a delightful combination
of pretty countryside, strategic touring position, comfortable rooms,
excellent meals, and warm hospitality. Following the increasingly popular
lifestyle trend of abandoning the city for a rural pace, Roman couple
Alessandro and Anna left their offices to become, essentially, farmers.
They bought and restored two connected stone farmhouses and incorporated
seven rooms, decorated pleasantly with a characteristic country flavor,
for guests. While Alessandro tends to the crops and farm animals, Anna
lives out her passion for cooking, much to guests’ delight. Meals are
served either outside at one long table or in the transformed horse
stalls below with cozy sitting area and fireplace. At times the allegria
and good food keep guests at the table until the wee hours. A lovely
swimming pool looks over the wooded hills to the valley. The busy hosts
take time to assist guests with the many local itineraries and organize
a wide variety of games. Perfect for families and a great base for exploring
Umbria. The town of Deruta is world-famous for its painted ceramic pottery
and is lined with workshops and showrooms. Directions: From Perugia
(18 km), exit from E45 at Casalina. Take the first right and follow
signs to the Fattoria.
