At the edge of the Mugello area north of Florence is the property of Enrico and Elisa Lippi and their growing family. The primary activity on the farm is the production of the highest-grade quality (D.O.C.G) Chianti Rufina, something that guests can observe up close as the cantinas and guests’ farmhouses and main villa are closely integrated, forming a borgo. Independent houses have from one to three bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and small garden with sitting area. They have been freshly redone, retaining wood-beamed ceilings and some exposed brick features. Country antiques were also restored and fit in well with the general ambiance. “Rosmarino” and “Bosco,” within or attached to the ancient medieval tower, are most characteristic of all apartments. Il Cavaliere is designed for longer stays and is a nice base for exploring this lesser-known part of northern Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, divided by the Apennines with their villages of medieval and even Etruscan origins. Mountain bikes can be rented, a pool is open to guests from June through September, and courses in Italian wine and olive-oil production are arranged. Directions: From Florence head for Pontassieve and continue to Dicomano. At 1 km before town, turn right for Frascole and follow signs to Il Cavaliere. Rates: • Price for one persons: 70 EURO
