Best friends Luciano and Tommaso, refugees from city life, have over the past ten years or so transformed the 1,000-acre property, La Casella, made up of woods, rivers, and valleys, into a veritable countryside haven for vacationers. Foremost attention has been given to the 28 rooms, which are divided between three separate stone houses. The Noci house contains seven doubles upstairs appointed with country antiques, and a large vaulted room downstairs used for small meetings or dining. La Terrazza, originally a hunting lodge, has nine rooms, one with namesake terrace looking over the poplar woods. On the highest point sits San Gregorio, with small chapel, where guests revel in the utter silence and a spectacular 360-degree view over the entire property. The lively dining room offers delectable cuisine, whose ingredients come directly from the farm. The many sports facilities include a beautiful big swimming pool, tennis, archery, and an equestrian center where many special outings and events are organized, as well as a spa program with natural treatments. Well-marked trails lead the rider, biker, or hiker to such marvels as Todi, Orvieto, or even Perugia. Directions: Exit at Fabro from the Rome-Firenze A1 autostrada. Follow signs for Parrano (7 km), turning right at the Casella sign, and continue for another 7 km on a rough gravel road. Rates: • Price for one persons: 80 EURO
