Rome:

From the 1st of January 2011 Rome City Council will ask for a overnight
accommodation tax on tourist service in the city.
This fee, 2 euros per night (10 nights maximum) per person (with the exception of children up to 10 years and in Rome residents), will be asked to anyone staying in every overnight accommodation inside Rome’s boundaries.

The fee, not included in the total rate, must be paid cash at check in time.

Please note that the fee is also asked for anyone who has booked or paid for the
trip through a travel agency or tour operator and therefore pays by presenting a
voucher at the reception desk.

For this payment you will receive a receipt.

Venice:

Venice is a unique city in the world! Every year more than 20 million visitors are
amazed at the sight of the City.

With a small sum of money even you will become one of the City’s sponsors,
contributing to safeguarding it. From the 24th of August 2011, all visitors who stay in an accommodation facility within the territory of the Municipality of Venice have to pay the “Tourist tax”. The collected funds will help the City improve the quality of the tourist services (services, museums, events,…) and finance works aimed at maintaining, using and salvaging the city’s cultural and architectural heritage.

Florence:

From the 1st of August 2011, all visitors who stay in an accommodation facility
within the territory of the Municipality of Florence will have to pay the “Tourist
tax”.
The overnight tax of Euro 1,00 is only due for the first 5 days. Kids are 10 years
of age do not pay. Youngers from 10 to 16 have a 50% reduction.
The collected funds will help the City improve the quality of the tourist services
(services, museums, events,...) and finance works aimed at maintaining, using and salvaging the city’s cultural and architectural heritage.
